Organization Overview
Children in Families (CIF) is a local Cambodian NGO, registered with the Ministry of the Interior since 2009, dedicated to providing high-quality family-based care for orphans and vulnerable children in Cambodia. CIF advocates locally and globally, for the belief that the best place for a child to grow up is in a loving family.
This project supports CIF's ABLE project, an umbrella project that works with children (especially those with disabilities or a serious illness) across all family-based care programs.
The Action Plan
Our goal: Working in in collaboration with the Department of Social Affairs, Veterans, and Youth Rehabilitation, provide DSI's training module 'Helping Children with Disabilities Learn' to build capacity of CIF's stakeholders and partners in Svay Reing Province. Specific objectives are:
Raise awareness about disability and provide intervention services to officers and staff of the organization.
Strengthen the relationship between service providers and professional organizations.
Create a public service network in Svay Reang, Svay Chrom district and Romdoul district
This Project's Impact
This training was held Nov 11-13, 2025 at the Provincial Department of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation in Svay Rieng Province.
45 total trainees received training on DSI's 'Helping Children with Disabilities Learn' module
3 in-country DSI team members led this training: Mr. NHIP Thy (DSI Cambodia Program Coordinator), and Ms. SREY Kalyan, and Mr. VONG Vuthy (DSI Master Trainers and National Institute of Special Education officers)
This training successfully met the overall objectives, enhancing the trainees' capacity to effectively support children with learning difficulties and specifically: improving understanding, strengthening skills, enhancing capacity to assess children's learning progress, and building practical knowledge.
DSI will conduct monitoring and provide followup support in February 2026 and CIF has expressed interest in continuing to grow their partnership with DSI and conduct more trainings work together.
