​Our training is designed to respond to current challenges and needs, providing practical, responsive, and effective training and specialized support to local teachers, changemakers, and education staff. We aim to help teachers develop their knowledge, skills, abilities, and confidence to build inclusive education access for children with disabilities (even without a formal diagnosis) and help them learn and develop to their fullest potential!
 

At DSI and within our training work, we believe that:

  • Children with disabilities have the right to learn and are able to learn.
  • People with disabilities are important members of society.
  • Local changemakers are integral to creating positive and lasting change.

Training Modules

Training is delivered in topic-specific modules. Each module provides essential professional theory and best-practice strategies for teachers' immediate classroom use.

Each module contains online access to:

  • A slidedeck and video recordings

  • A training guide

  • A toolkit with an awareness-raising flipbook and strategy resource pages

Training support also includes:

  • Live virtual coaching sessions with DSI trainers

  • Pre and post-training survey tools

  • Training completion certificates

This module helps teachers learn how to think critically about the purpose of behavior and increase their skills and knowledge to plan and respond effectively to help children with disabilities who are having challenging behavior in school and other environments.

  • Marketing and Communications intern
    Position Description: This intern supports our annual communications strategy and produces creative visual content to help grow our online presence and drive traffic through social media, email, and website platforms. You are a good fit for this position if you: Are currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree or graduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Web Design or similar. Must be at least a sophomore-level undergraduate student to apply. Can provide work samples or portfolio examples (i.e. social media or blog posts, infographic, article, etc..). Main Duties: Assist with the execution of portions of DSI's marketing and communications plan. Design and create visuals and marketing materials for use on DSI's various communication platforms (e-news updates, social media posts, blog posts, etc.). Assist with the coordination of a content schedule for DSI's blog posts and social media. Time commitment: Part-time, minimum of 10 hours per week. Hours are flexible but we do ask for a consistent schedule. Location: Must be located within the US. Remote work environment, but may include some in-person work sessions if proximity allows (metro/southeastern MN area).
